Synopsis: Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something…unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don't kill him first, that is.

My Thoughts: I've been reading praises of this novel since I started book blogging. That is the reason I avoided reading this one. I mean, look at what happened with Twilight and Fifty Shades and Shiver! I didn't want that to happen again so I steered clear of this one. But then I needed something to read along with my friend. And she is a sucker for guys like Daemon. I knew she would like him since I had read about him and he was kinda like Damon (from Vampire Diaries). So I thought why not, let's give this one a try too.

So now I'm aboard the fan-wagon with all you pretty ladies fangirling over Daemon! I'm so sorry I avoided reading this book for so long!! It was awesome!!

Story: People say the story is very much like Twilight and I kinda agree. But this one has it's individuality. I was weary at first because aliens! But the way it is executed is good and the alien story and the paranormal stuff makes sense. It has a good pacing and suspense and there is never a dull moment. The romance is really good too! I loved Daemon and Katy together! Their fights were fun to read but I loved the scenes in which they were themselves with each other and they let their guards down in front of each other. The romance was totally believable!

Writing: The writing was really very very good! It was easy and relatable and kept your attention at all times. The descriptions were easy too follow and not overly done. The dialogue was witty and natural. I loved getting into Katy's head!

Characters: The characters were well-written and real. Kat was a very relatable character for I think most book bloggers. I don't know about non-book bloggers though... I do know that my friend (who does not blog nor does she read any book blogs so she is unaware what a Waiting for Wednesday is) was unable to relate to Kat as much as I did. Kat was strong and independent. She could stand up for herself and I loved that about her! Plus she was a book blogger and her sentiments about things relating to that were very much like mine. I loved her witty comebacks and I loved how she was genuinely a nice and kind person.

Daemon, oh Daemon! The things he does to my stomach! Just thinking about him sets off a butterfly explosion in my stomach! I couldn't help but picture Damon Salvatore as Daemon! They have a lot of similarities, besides the name! Both are bad boys full of sarcasm. Both are good at hiding their true feelings and being a jerk. Both are insanely hot and have girls drooling all over them! Both have a sad past. Both fall for a girl they are not supposed to fall for, etcetera. Daemon is the ultimate bad boy you can't help but fall for.

I'll be honest,  couldn't really connect with Dee the way I wanted to. I never felt much for her, hell she could've died and I wouldn't have cared! I don't know why I felt so indifferent towards her, but I did. The other minor characters were okay and served there purpose well.

Ending: The ending was a bit... confusing for me. First of all, I don't get why Dee is oh so important. If Kat had done it for all the Luxen people that would have been more believable. But to do it to only save Dee (which Kat says again and again) is a bit... I don't know, not believable. Secondly, I really didn't understand what went down and the Kat Daemon connection thing. And I read that part twice. Still don't get it... This is the only reason I gave this book a 9.5 instead of a 10.

Overall: I loved this book a lot and really enjoyed reading it! I'll definitely check out the second book ASAP! I highly recommend this for fans of Twilight and Vampire Diaries and people who like to read paranormal romances.
